I got my B.A. in Biology at Brown University. After spending a couple of years doing field work with various long-term projects, I went on to do my Ph.D. with Dr. Bruce Lyon in the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz. After short stints at the Department of Zoology and Physiology at the University of Wyoming working with Dr. David McDonald and a  NSF EAPSI Fellowship at Rikkyo University with Dr. Keisuke Ueda, I spent two years as a Chicago Fellows Postdoc at the University of Chicago with Dr. Trevor Price.

I am currently a Assistant Professor at the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

I'm originally from Tokyo, but I have lived in Cairo, Houston, Chicago, Providence, and Santa Cruz, among other places.
